We all know we have fast cars so why do we have to go 90+ to get there? Most of the people are from out of town and were lost before getting on the i-85. The other I spkoe to in our group don't even go because of the history of the Canonball run type event. It was like every man, women and truck for themself. The maps were of NO help and were not given to each car but every 5th or 6th car. When we have gone to the STARS show we all line up and it's a line of up to 100 f- bodies and to object is to get there together NOT to get there fast. The looks you get with that many is much more impressive than if you have to cut in and out of traffic to keep from getting lost like your life depends on it. That is the only issue I have with the event at all. OH GPS did not help due to there is more than one location and some did not know what location we were going too.
The only fix I can see is the host club that did this even take smaller groups, or have 2 people that know where they are going in case of a light. That way the other one can step up and be the lead car and get the group there. OR make sure everyone has a map with the location address and phone so they can use their GPS or phone. Thanks for the vent and look forward G-15
i agree i got left behind and tryed to use my gps and was lost for 2 hours
Yeah spray paint.
Something needs to go on Sunday to keep everyone there.Seems like Sunday everyone goes and does their own thing and none of the cars are left in the lot.
I believe the awards are put off until later because it actually takes more time than you would think to tally up the judging sheets, decide which classes will have 5-6 runner-ups based on the caliber of cars in it, get the auction stuff ready, etc. I complained about that last year until I helped with a show last summer and it takes a LOT of time to get things squared away for awards.

good point Kyle, and since I have chosen to put the photos together for the presentation, I have to put about 100 slides together once I get the winners lists. Typically I am putting the finishing touches on during the auction. I like the timing, and there were many folks that stayed through Sunday and the evening was nice. I just don't see a way to make the awards show/auction happen earlier, but all good suggestions.

The only other thing is to have the awards earlier in the day. It will give folks the opportunity to hang out a little longer or for those that have to leave be able to get a jump on the trek home. Other than that, thumbs up again from me.
ROAD RALLY YEAH WE GOT 1st place b4 and loved it! YEAH!
Maybe have a 50/50 on friday. Sat, and sun, that way everyone can take part. It might not be as large but more chances to win.
Drop the band, keep the $$ or invest it somewhere else. I enjoy the 8 cylinder symphonies better
I do agree that on the cruises we should all stick together. I already expected that we would probably get lost. So I wrote the directions down beforehand. But it would just be nice to have a steady cruise with all the cars at the same place would be awesome.
We just need more car-related activities to do saturday and sunday. I'm not entirely sure what more could be done. Theres the rev contest on sunday, but I didn't stay late sunday left around 4 so I don't know if that even went down. Maybe it can be promoted better or done later Saturday, or earlier Sunday.
Quite a few people leave between 1-5 on Sunday to get a headstart on the drive home. So it's usually kinda dead on Sunday. I know we had to leave because fuel pump was dieing on my dad's car and didn't want to get stranded when I was raining or dark out, but more activities would likely keep some of the people there.
On the schedule it said that there was a dyno? Do they come to the show and didn't come because of the rain? or are they located else where? I wondered that both years
Either way awesome show guys! Keep up the good work. I can't thank you guys enough. Even if nothing changed, this is by-far the best car show I go to all year. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into The Gathering.

I don't know the hotel's policy on food distribution, but it might be nice to have something like a pig pickin or chicken roast at the end of the parking lot so we aren't wanting to drive offsite for lunch on Saturday primarily.
the Horn/Alarm symphonie was damn good IMO

Hotel is strict about food/grilling, etc. They want everyone in the bar eating... That is like a line item on the contract.."no food vending".
drop the band. Daily 50/50's would be cool. A mobile dyno would rock...keep the guys that wanna dyno, from having to drive 40 miles to do so.(though I know that is hard to find). The inflatable battleground was pretty cool I guess- but I thought movie night was cooler.
as for keeping cruises together- this is real hard to do without police escorts/light blocking. For the past couple yrs I haven't done any of the cruises, due to the rear in the car whining. But in the past I never had an issue during the cruises to the Varsity, then again, I'm a hoodlum that doesn't mind blasting 110 back to the hotel.LOL
Ginger- last time I went to STARS we were hitting 100+ cruising to eat...since the cops blocked the road, and only Firebirds were on the road.
