If anyone is judging what's in your trunks, and the level of cleanliness due to the road trip, we got bigger trouble here.Blink
Looks like we're discussing different "trunks" hahaha
One question about judging. What is the reunion class? What do they look for?

If you wish to have your car entered in the judging you must stop at the canopy in the parking lot after you have registered for the show. We will ask you a few simple questions to get your car classified and entered in the judging. I'll gladly asnwer any questions you may have throughout the weekend.

Please make sure that your car is unlocked including the hatch / trunk from 10:30 - 5:30 on Saturday to allow us to judge all the areas.

Your car must remain in the parking lot from 10:30 - 5:30 to allow us to judge. If you have to leave, please let us know.

I really appreciate all who have helped with judging in the past, and once again will gladly accept volunteers to judge. Volunteers will not judge their own class. Sign up at the classification canopy.

Any newbies to the judging process that are looking for tips, or need someone to critique their car prior to the judging may see us at the classification canopy. We'll gladly give you some pointers to make your show experience a good one.

Please remember this is a fun relaxed event and not blood and guts 1000 point judging.

Relax.........have fun.........and we'll see you there!

Well seeing as to how I wont be bringing a car out for judging this year, I will throw my name into the hat to help out this year,

unless I can enter the V

Reunion class is more of a participation only class...no real judging. You can bring your rusted out '85 with four different wheels and a rats nest in the trunk and still get an award.
So.....what is the award based on? I don't see a rusted '85 with 4 wheels getting an award lol! Do they still judge the cars looks, modifications, etc? There must be a basis on which someone gets an award there?
I think winning in Reunion Class has more to do with capturing the attention of the judges in some way. A good story can help, but anything can get a win. The rules say you need not even wash the car. I won in Reunion 3 out of 4 years and probably did more to prepare the car the year I did not win. It can be the luck of the draw. Just remember, the Gathering is is not so much about awards as it is about the experience. That is one reason the awards are not 6' gold-plated monuments. First place in the Trailered Super Modified looks just like all the Reunion plaques, reminding everyone that this is a gathering of enthusiasts first, a place to see some really interesting cars, second, an excuse to stay up way too late and drink from a bug sprayer third, and and awards show to finish it off last, maybe because they couldn't figure out another way to end it...
I've seen guys get so upset saying that their car was so much cleaner or superior to others that received higher awards that I have made it a point not to stress about the judging. Put your car in the condition you want it and perhaps you will take a piece of pine home with you, and maybe not. Chances are you will get compliments from as many people as you chat with when they stop by your car.
If you want to learn more about judging, volunteer to judge and you can get the full understanding of what they are looking at, the challenges of selecting between great cars, not to mention help be a part of the effort it takes to make each Gathering memorable.
I still say we need a 150,000-up mileage class.LOL
