My Editorial on this subject..
Many may or may not be aware that Matt was the founder behind the very, very first Gathering held at Road Atlanta many, many years ago. Had he not held that event, today’s Gathering would more than likely not exist and that’s a very simple fact. Gathering experienced many growing pains and Matt has always been there encouraging the staff to move forward with it. He opened his arms to our community and I publically thank him for that.
GM gave us the cars, SLP took many of them one step forward and GMMG blew the doors right off the barn. They revived the "Tuner Muscle Cars" and gave several car dealers both old and new a new face on otherwise Mothballed memories, several companies have benefited from his work. Numerous parts out there available today originated from R&D and feedback that came from GMMG, this too is fact.
The Camaro totally dominated SEMA this year. Look at the amount of "Special Edition" or "Tuner" Builders now since GMMG began.. 75% of which we’ve never heard of before! Its good for the Brands and it’s great for the enthusiasts and as far as I'm concerned Matt and the folks that have worked with him over the years behind the scenes had a very large hand in making that happen. GMMG has most certainly earned its place in history.
It really doesn’t need to be said that the economy has hurt many of our friends out there and certainly hurt a TON of companies. No one knows what the future holds for GMMG but I certainly hope that we see more from them in the future.
I would hope that enthusiasts that a gracious enough to support this event also remember to support the companies and groups that make resources available to us. If you are not in a position to support them with your wallet I respectfully ask everyone to take a second and call them, write them or give a handshake to these folks and simply THANK THEM for what they do for all of us.
