So well picture me driving to work one day when "East Bound and Down" starts playing on my radio from the Ipod. My mind Immediately screams BEER RUN. But well I drive an F-body, and I start craving Coors (which I normally don't drink). So I picture in my mind a Parade of F-bodies going on the Biggest, Loudest, Craziest Beer run in History! To Texarkana and back to Atlanta. It's about 670 miles each way, a 10 hour drive. 1340 miles 20 hours with a over night stop in Texas.
Ok so I know at this point everyone who has read this is thinking, "this guy is nuts". But think about it for a second, anyone who enjoys long road trips would enjoy a cruise like this.
Bandit Run Rules:
1: Follow all traffic laws.
2: Vehicle must be owned, registered, and insured by the driver.
3: All vehicles will follow planned route with 20 minute stops every 2 hours.
4: All Participants WILL stay at a hotel in the Texarkana area, No one will drive straight through.
5: All participants of legal drinking age will buy one case of Coors, or Coors Light while in Texas and case must remain sealed until back in Atlanta.
6: Alcohol will be transported in the trunk or under the hatch.
7: Any tickets incurred will be the responsibility of the driver who earns them.
8: Vehicle Must be an F-Body. Make or Generation is not important (5th gens are considered F-body's for this case)
Specifics:
1: registration would be before 10 am on Friday May 28th, cars immediately line up as they complete the registration.
2 Roll out at 11 am.
3: Arrive in Texarkana shortly before 10 pm. Get your beer and check into your Hotel rooms.
4: Wake up around 8 am roll out by 9. We should be back to Atlanta by 8 pm.
If I was to get a decent amount of support behind my Idea I would start contacting Hotels to try to get a group rate. Keep In mind this is just a rough idea and I would be open to additional suggestion. I am not trying to take away from the Gathering, just trying to find something fun that cruisers like my self might enjoy. Only if I can get a large group will I look any farther into this Idea. Oh and please feel free to express your thoughts on this.
