First off, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who inquired about the strange noise coming from my car in ATL. Several people offered to look at it but we always seemed to miss connections while dodging raindrops.

What was believed to be a leaky EGR hose, turned out to be a blown head gasket on the passenger side.

Found a good place locally, and the car is now running normally again!

This is good news... FWIW, the big loud black turd is fixed too... Only a month too late.

Damn, you were lucky to make the trip down and back without having any major problems. Did you have both replaced?

No, we looked over the one on the driver side and saw no signs of any problems so we replaced only the passenger side. However, i have a new driver side gasket now in case I need it for future use.
