A longer gathering sounds nice. We did not want to leave either.
Available decent food will be appreciated if feasable. If nothing else, maybe we could set up our own grills, and a makeshift picnic area away from the cars. Circle the car haulers like wagons or something?
Consider making the awards 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, then runner's up. On the group that I judged there was a significant point spread between all the runner's up, and it would be nice to reconize the 2nd and 3rd place cars from the honorable mention cars.
A co-worker of mine mentioned a tatoo gathering in Orlando, where the participants spread plastic down one of the halls in the Marriott, covered themselves in vegetable oil, and played slip and slide. Probably a bad idea if we want to see a G-15. SORRY, Scrap that suggestion.

Assign me some duties to assist in the next gathering. Betty and I live 2.5 hours, 159 miles north of Marrieta, so we are not too far away drive down.
yes, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards sound great. some classes have way to many runner ups, and like the V6 class has 6 awards and there were only 6 cars so every body got one..
